Telling others about the Saviour

Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.
Luke 8:39

Telling others about the Saviour
In Gadara, the Saviour met a man who was possessed by many evil spirits. With divine power He freed this man from Satan’s slavery. Before Jesus Christ left the area again, He instructed this redeemed man, “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.”

Doesn’t this instruction of the Lord apply to all whom He has redeemed from the power of the devil and saved from eternal death? Isn’t the grace experienced reason enough for everyone who knows Jesus Christ as personal Saviour to introduce others to the saving love of God?

The Lord determines the place where we are to testify of Him: it starts at home! There, contacts with fellow human beings provide good opportunities to tell about our Saviour. There, where people know us, the positive change in our lives can underline the message of grace.

The Lord Jesus also indicates what we should say how much God has done for us! He does not ask us to preach great sermons. It is enough if we simply tell how we have experienced the forgiveness of our sins and salvation from divine punishment.

To spur us on, the Bible tells us how the man from Gadara fulfilled the Lord’s command: “And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.”

Today’s reading: Ezekiel 9:1-11 · Psalms 118:15-29

OFFENDED IN CHRIST?

The Christian race must be run with lots of patience or else it will be bungled midway. If you are inpatient with Gods timing, you will not only get into trouble but may not be able to finish the race. A good number of backsliders derailed from their heavenly track because of impatience. In Matthew 11:6 Jesus...More

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he sat at the tent-door in the heat of the day. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men standing near him.

The spiritual elevation of Abraham in Genesis 18 and 19 is something very peculiar. He seems...More

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More
