God sees and judges everything

And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
Hebrews 4:13

God sees and judges everything
A few years ago, a survey revealed that 245 million surveillance cameras are installed worldwide and their number is increasing by 15 per cent every year. Alongside this, people take countless pictures and videos with their smartphones day after day to record the events of their lives. Whether we rejoice in the increasing security or lament the dwindling privacy, we live in a world where cameras are everywhere.

In the Bible we read that God looks down on people from heaven and perceives everything they do (Psalm 33:13–15). He sees every deed and hears every word. He even knows what it looks like in people’s hearts. No creature is invisible before Him. All of life lies before Him like an open book.

The omnipresence and omniscience of God is all the more serious because we have to give an account before Him. There are two ways of doing this:

Either: We come to Him today and disclose our wrongdoing with a confession before Him. Then He forgives us because Jesus Christ died to redeem us from our sin. This puts our relationship with God in order. Now we can rejoice that He knows everything about us.
Or: One day we will stand before the Divine Judge. All the wrong we have done in life He will bring to light and condemn. The consequence of this will be eternal punishment in hell.

Today’s reading: Ezekiel 12:1-28 · Psalms 119:33-48
