Animals that obeyed God

For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the mountains, and the wild beasts of the field are Mine.
Psalm 50:10–11

Animals that obeyed God
Sven is sitting at the table doing his homework. He can’t concentrate because a fly keeps buzzing around his head. Annoyed, he shoos it away and tries to chase it out the window. But the fly doesn’t obey him ...

It is different with God, the Creator. All animals obey him. The Bible tells us how they have to carry out what He tells them to do, sometimes even against their natural instinct.

o In 1 Kings 17, we read how ravens are commissioned by God to bring bread and meat to the prophet Elijah twice a day. Although these birds like meat, they carry this food without eating it themselves.
o 1 Samuel 6, God sees to it that two lactating cows do not follow their maternal instinct, but turn their backs on their calves and pull the cart with the Ark of the Covenant out of enemy territory into Israelite territory.
o Daniel is thrown into the pit with the lions because of his faithfulness to God, the Almighty closes the jaws of these predators so that the God-fearing man of faith remains alive (Daniel 6).

These examples show how the Lord has worked in power and grace in favour of His own. Therefore, in situations that overwhelm us, let us hold fast to the fact that nothing gets out of hand for our God. He has ways and means to help us, although He rarely intervenes through a supernatural miracle.

Today’s reading: Ezekiel 16:1-34 · Psalms 119:97-112

BE TRULY ROOTED

You can overcome the attacks of the devil if you can simply obey God's Word. Before taking on the devil, be sure of your salvation because the salvation of many today is questionable. Many are pretenders and have really never answered the altar call for salvation at any time. At the time they should be answering...More

YOUR FIRST LOVE

As a Christian, your heart ought to be aglow with genuine love for Christ, unless you are not genuinely saved as a result of having not truly repented from your sins even though you have confessed Jesus. At the new birth experience, the Holy Spirit regenerates our spirit and fills it with deep and pure love for...More

Imitation or Genuine?

"All the prophets were prophesying before them. Then Zedekiah said, 'This is what the LORD says' All the prophets were prophesying this as well." - 1 Kings 22:10-12 NASB

Zedekiah understood what it meant to be a prophet. He knew the vocabulary and how to deliver prophecies. In similar ways, others...More
