December 12, 2015 Today's reading: 1 John 5 So that servant came, and showed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. Luke 14:21-23 The great supper (2) The honourable citizens were the first to be invited to the great feast but they had turned the invitation down. So the host in this parable sent his servant out once again. Who was he to speak to this time?. The poor maimed, lame and blind! It that possible? It is what the host wanted. Those addressed first had shown that they certainly were not worthy to participate in the feast: they disdained the host, who wished for guests who would cherish his kindness and gratefully accept his invitation. His house should be filled. So the servant was to compel those pitiful fellowmen to come even if they felt embarrassed. Today, there are also people who show no interest in God and fellowship with Him and disrespectfully ignore His kindness. They produce excuses that do not count with God, however. God's invitation therefore goes out expressly to the poor and needy, as in the parable. They are people who recognise that they have nothing to show for themselves before God - apart from their sin. They are people who feel that they are on the way to condemnation and cannot save themselves. They are all invited to come to God with their guilt to confess it before Him and then to take part in His feast with joy. (concluded) |

Open Heavens for Thursday, December 5, 2013 by Pastor E.A Adeboye UNCOVERING EVIL The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits. It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More |

(Titus 1:2-3) THE NON-LYING GOD (2) I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More |
