God wants to go with you
The train roars through the night at high speed. The locomotive driver looks ahead with intense concentration in order to detect the next signal in time. Sometimes thick fog makes it difficult for him to see. Then a green light flashes by: the track ahead of him is therefore clear and he can continue at the prescribed speed. He can hardly see anything from the track and has to rely entirely on the signals given by the dispatcher, who shows him whether the path is clear or not.

Our life is like a train journey without a clear view. The route in front of us is invisible. What will the New Year bring? Who of us doesn’t fear the unknown, or possible difficulties that we are not up to handling? In such situations, it’s important that someone we can rely on is at our side. People often disappoint us but we can always count on God. He promises us, “Fear not, for I am with you”.

However, this great promise also has a condition: our relationship with God must be in order. He calls us to confess our sins to Him and to believe that His Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross to forgive them. This is how we get right with God.

With Him we can go into the New Year with calm reassurance.
