Dramatic rescue (5)

And with many other words he (Peter) testified and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation.
Acts 2:40

Dramatic rescue (5)
After the captain of the Teeswood jumps into the lifeboat, the other sailors also take courage and one by one jump to safety. But with each voyage, the difficulties for the lifeboat increase as the steamer becomes more and more of a dangerous wreck.

Meanwhile, the Borkum has already made twenty attempts, rescued thirteen men, and has been working tirelessly for an hour. Two sailors are still on the wreck – but they cannot bring themselves to jump. They are desperate, hopeless, even paralysed. And then another massive breaker crashes over the ship, taking them with it.

Thirteen sailors were rescued from mortal danger – because the rescue boat and its crew came and helped. The men of the lifeboat were ready, in a selfless and tireless way and at the risk of their own lives, to save people completely unknown to them. But in the end, each of the sailors had to make the jump themselves. Otherwise they couldn’t be saved.

God, through the gospel, His good news, is also ready to save. And through it He is able to save, because Jesus Christ has accomplished the work of salvation which is sufficient for all people. But each individual must accept it for himself. It takes courage and trust, but it’s worth it.

Therefore, we ask everyone who reads or hears this: Take courage, dare to jump into the saving arms of the Lord Jesus! It is as if God is urging you through us, so we ask you on Christ’s behalf: “Be reconciled to God” ! 2 Corinthians 5:20

Today’s reading: Hosea 10:1-15 · James 5:1-6

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
