“That’s your story, isn’t it!” (1)

I will arise and go to my father.
Luke 15:18

“That’s your story, isn’t it!” (1)
On a village square, some guitar players once gave an open-air concert without an admission fee. They quickly attracted curious people with their rhythmic songs. After the performance, one of them went around collecting donations. He also knocked on the window of an adjacent house.

“Young man,” the residents said to him, “you have a beautiful voice. Here is a New Testament and a coin. It’s yours if you will read the people the story of the prodigal son from it.”

“That’s easy money to earn!” the young man thought delightedly. “Ladies and gentlemen!” he called to those around him. “I have something to read to you.” He opened, as he had been shown, the 15th chapter of the Gospel of Luke: “A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of the goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood”...

Here the reader paused. Then, less confidently than before, he continued, “And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living”... Then the thought flashed through the young man’s mind, “But this is your story!” Disturbed and overwhelmed at the same time, he continued reading the story – the summary of his own life – up to the words: “… I perish with hunger. I will arise and go to my father ...”.

(concluded tomorrow)

Today’s reading: Ezra 4:1-16 · Proverbs 5:1-14

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
