We are important to the Lord

But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?
Mark 4:38

We are important to the Lord
The disciples were with the Lord Jesus in a boat on the lake when a violent storm arose. Huge waves hit the boat so that it filled with water. We can well imagine how the disciples were struggling against this storm. Some of them were experienced fishermen who knew what to do in such situations but that didn’t seem to be helping.

While their distress grew, the Lord Jesus was sleeping in the back of the boat. How could He remain so calm? Didn’t He care that they were in danger of drowning? Such questions might have been going through the disciples’ minds when they approached Him and woke Him up saying, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”

Maybe we have had similar experiences. In following the Lord Jesus, perhaps we have been completely overwhelmed by some problems that have arisen. We may have struggled and counted on our Lord’s help, but He seemingly hasn’t cared about our plight. Our prayers have remained unanswered. Then suddenly the doubting question has come into our mind: Does He care about us at all?

Peter, who had the experience with the Lord on the sea described in today’s verse, gives us an answer that dispels all doubt: “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). The Lord will never abandon us!

Today’s reading: Nehemiah 7:39-73 · Proverbs 14:1-12

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
