Today's reading: Amos 9

I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

Psalm 61:4;3:5-6

God works in a surprising manner, if it is His will to do so. That was not so only in biblical times. Even today, people who trust Him make the experience, only there are fewer of them nowadays. If we hear something that baffles explanation we should not judge on the basis of our everyday life.
Take this example of a servant of God at the time of persecution of Christians in Romania some 25 years ago.
"I was watched incessantly because of my preaching activity. I could reckon with being arrested again at any moment; so I was compelled to hide from the police in the mountains. It was winter. Sometimes wolves appeared, but I was less afraid of them than of those who were after me.
"One night it was particularly cold, I was totally exhausted and prayed, 'Lord send me a blanket, or I shall freeze to death! Thereupon I fell asleep. I noticed nothing of the cold. Can you imagine why? When I awoke the next morning, it was still dark. I moved and was about to stand up, when an animal got up beside me and disappeared in the trees. Was it a dog or a young wolf? I have no idea. But the animal had spent the night nestled up beside me
"God has no equal in His greatness and goodness! He could not have given me a warmer blanket!"

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More

When You Have A Vision

I was not disobedient to the vision.' Acts 26:19 NIV

When God gives you a vision for your life, you need to know how to:

(1) Hold it. Your vision is governed by a time frame: If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.' (Habakkuk 2:3 NLT) Some of us can...More

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (113)

He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there my servant will be also. If anyone serves me, him my Father will honour.
John 12:25.26.
