The elephant in the cloud

Now faith is the … evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1

The elephant in the cloud
“Look, Mummy!” says the little girl, pointing to the passing clouds. “There’s an elephant up there!” If the girl’s mother looks, she may not spot the elephant but she knows the phenomenon from her own experience. We see images in clouds because when we look at them, our brain automatically compares them to images already stored in our memory. As soon as it detects a match – even if it’s with an elephant – the cloud “transforms” into this image. The things we “see” in the cloud do not really exist there. We can only “see” them because we have looked at them before in reality.

With faith, the situation is exactly the opposite! There it isn’t about visible things, but about realities. If we “believe” in the sense of the Bible, we commit ourselves to a reality that is invisible to our eyes. And we have the complete certainty that God exists, although we have never seen Him.

Almost 2,000 years ago, God Himself lived, worked and preached visibly on earth in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible contains many eyewitness accounts of the great events of His life, and it tells of His death and resurrection. In addition, His contemporaries, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, recorded His words accurately.

Whoever responds to the call to repentance and faith now will have this experience: God is a living reality in my life, even though I have never seen Him. He forgives my sins. He makes me His child. He leads me safely through all the challenges of life to the goal, the eternal glory of heaven. And there I will see Christ in whom I have believed.

Today’s reading: Esther 8:1-14 · Proverbs 21:1-10

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
