Four small animals

There are four things which are little on the earth, but they are exceedingly wise.
Proverbs 30:24

Four small animals
Proverbs 30:24–28 mentions four small, insignificant animals. However, they show wise behaviour which we as Christians can apply to our lives and that should characterise us.

“The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer.” These small creatures diligently gather food to provide for their future. Likewise, we should read the Word of God intensively in our youth and take it into our hearts, thus making spiritual provision for later times.
“The rock badgers are a feeble folk, yet they make their homes in the crags.” Their security is in the rock which is their place of refuge. In the same way, we are called to base our lives on Christ and His Word. Trusting in Him, we are safe and secure in the storms of life.
“The locusts have no king, yet they all advance in ranks.” Like these animals, we have no visible leader. However, when we are guided by the Lord through the Word and by the Holy Spirit, there is a godly order and harmony among believers.
“The spider skilfully grasps with its hands, and it is in kings’ palaces.” These animals cannot escape the grasp of men. So also today, many Christians are mocked and persecuted. But in the future, we will be with Christ in glory.

Today’s reading: Obadiah vv. 1-11 · Proverbs 25:19-28

I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More

When You Have A Vision

I was not disobedient to the vision.' Acts 26:19 NIV

When God gives you a vision for your life, you need to know how to:

(1) Hold it. Your vision is governed by a time frame: If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.' (Habakkuk 2:3 NLT) Some of us can...More

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (113)

He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there my servant will be also. If anyone serves me, him my Father will honour.
John 12:25.26.
