The resurrection of the Lord Jesus

This Jesus God has raised up.
Acts 2:32

The resurrection of the Lord Jesus
In John 17:4, Jesus prays to His Father, “I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.” In His life and in His death, Jesus Christ demonstrated the attributes of His God and Father. He showed that God is light and love. In doing so, He glorified the Father on earth.

The Lord also accomplished the work that His God and Father had given Him to do. His obedience and devotion went so far as to lay down His life on the cross. How pleased the Father must have been in Jesus Christ when He carried out His will to the very end!

To this wonderful work of His Son, God the Father gave His own response. In Romans 6:4 we read that Christ was “raised from the dead by the glory of the Father”. The Father displayed all His glory to raise up the One who had perfectly glorified Him on the cross.

By raising the Lord Jesus, the Father testified how much the sacrificial death of His Son meant to Him. As those who have been saved through personal faith in the Saviour, we also know something of the value of His redemptive work. The more we reflect on His death on the cross, the better we understand the pleasure that the Father found in Him at that time.

Today’s reading: Genesis 11:1-26 · 2 Peter 1:1-7

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
