With God and for God

Let each one remain with God in that state in which he was called.
1 Corinthians 7:24

With God and for God
What is the right attitude towards work? How should the Christian perform his daily duties? The Apostle Paul provides an answer to this in today’s verse: “Let each one remain with God in that state in which he was called.” It’s about living your daily life with God and being connected to Him in all that needs to be done. Whatever your occupation is, remain with God in it!

This will create a positive attitude towards your daily work. Instead of sighing over what may be a boring and monotonous activity, you can carry it out in communion with God. Your daily life thus becomes an opportunity to serve and honour your God.

In Ephesians 6:5–7 we read, “Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men.”

Think of the Lord Jesus who worked as a carpenter for many years. Do you think He practised His trade carelessly or grudgingly? Do you think He never had to do boring or tedious work? Was He unhappy in it? No, certainly not! He did the will of His God and Father from His heart, even in His daily duties.

Today’s reading: Genesis 13:5-18 · 2 Peter 2:1-8

OFFENDED IN CHRIST?

The Christian race must be run with lots of patience or else it will be bungled midway. If you are inpatient with Gods timing, you will not only get into trouble but may not be able to finish the race. A good number of backsliders derailed from their heavenly track because of impatience. In Matthew 11:6 Jesus...More

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he sat at the tent-door in the heat of the day. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men standing near him.

The spiritual elevation of Abraham in Genesis 18 and 19 is something very peculiar. He seems...More

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More
