Search and rescue

What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?
Luke 15:4

Search and rescue
The Saviour uses a story to illustrate how He is interested in and committed to each individual person. When a sheep runs away from the flock and gets lost, the shepherd goes after it and searches until he finds it. He puts all his energy into tracking down the lost animal. He concentrates all his thoughts on finding the lost sheep which is unable to find its way back on its own.

Jesus Christ acts in the same way today with every human being who has run away from his Creator and lost his way in life. He goes after him and lovingly invites him to entrust himself to Him. He wants to rescue every individual who has lost his way and bring him back into a right relationship with God.

When the shepherd has found the sheep, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and carries it home. There he calls together his friends and neighbours and says to them, “Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost” (Luke 15:6).

It is similar with a person who recognises his hopeless situation as a lost sinner and places his trust in Jesus Christ feels. Through personal faith in the Saviour who died for him on the cross, he is saved for heaven. He now belongs to the Good Shepherd who carries him home on His strong shoulders.

Today’s reading: Genesis 17:1-27 · Jude vv. 1-4

CONDESCEND!

As high as God is and even though He has His throne in Heaven, yet He condescends to meet the needs of His children on earth (Isaiah...More

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More

EX-CHAMPION?

Although it is an unpleasant experience to be a defeated contender, becoming an ex-champion is a much more grievous experience. When you are not yet a champion, only a few people pay attention to you. But by the time you become a champion, you will be on the radar of many people, including your enemies. A champion has...More
