The most important thing

Seek the Lord and live.
Amos 5:6

The most important thing
Many things are constantly being advertised to us. Often, we can hardly distinguish whether something is important or unimportant. We are bombarded with an abundance of information and offers. Everything is delivered to our doorstep via the Internet and Smartphones. We are constantly distracted so that we lose sight of the most important things in life and occupy ourselves with trivial matters.

What then is the most important thing? A right relationship with God! In Psalm 119:2, all those who seek God with all their heart are called blessed. It is about getting in touch with Him and putting our lives in order before Him. We are called to “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near” (Isaiah 55:6). That is now and today. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring.

But now listen and be amazed: Jesus Christ comes to meet you in your search for God. He says of Himself, “The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). Lost – that is the condition of all people, whether they have done great or little evil. That is why everyone who wants to come to God needs the Saviour to seek and save him.

When you believe in Jesus Christ, who died for your sins on the cross, there is an encounter between Him and you. Then He takes you by the hand and leads you to God.

Today’s reading: Genesis 19:23-38 · Psalms 2:1-6
