Be strong and of good courage!

Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!
Psalm 27:14

Be strong and of good courage!
The exhortation “Be strong and of good courage!” is addressed to two believers in the Bible who had difficult missions to fulfil.

God had appointed Joshua as Moses’ successor. He was to lead the people of Israel into the land of Canaan, which was not going to be an easy task. Moses knew this from his own experience. That’s why he encouraged Joshua, “Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 31:7–8).
As king, David had made extensive preparations for the building of the temple in Jerusalem. By God’s decree, his son Solomon was to carry out this great work. To encourage Solomon in this task, his father spoke words of courage to him, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God – my God – will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord” (1 Chronicles 28:20).
These encouraging words also apply to us. We sometimes face difficult tasks that overwhelm us. But we have the comforting assurance that the Lord will be with us.

Today’s reading: Genesis 32:1-21 · Psalms 18:38-50

FALSE PROPHETS AND THEIR PROPHECIES-FOOLISH PROPHETS

The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying: Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say unto them that prophesy out of their own heart, Hear ye the word of Jehovah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow after their own spirit, and have seen nothing!...More

EVERYONE NEEDS A MIRACLE

Some years ago, I was invited to be the guest speaker at a garden party in an exclusive, highbrow residential area. Because I arrived at the venue quite early, I was made to sit for a while in the house of my host. The house was an exquisite parade of wealth and splendour. I had never seen such brazen display of...More

FOR CHRIST'S SAKE DON'T!

A negative change is generally abhorred by men. Everyone craves progress. We always desire to keep ascending the ladder of success. No one wants to make a u-turn in the journey of greatness. The greatest journey whose end has the greatest significance is the journey to Heaven. This journey is only made in Jesus...More
