I look at the bell panel of a metropolitan...

The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men. From the place of His dwelling He looks on all the inhabitants of the earth; He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works.
Psalm 33:13–15

I look at the bell panel of a metropolitan high-rise: dozens of names, local and foreign-sounding. Behind each name are people with their own personal life stories, people with all their joys and hardships, hopes and disappointments. And although they live in very close quarters, they often experience deep loneliness. Often people don’t even know or care about their neighbours. Everyone has enough to do in meeting their own needs and facing their own problems.

But there is One who leaves no man unnoticed – God! “The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men,” says our Psalm today. God, as the Creator and Sustainer of all people, knows how each individual feels.

In His great love, He has made His way to us in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ – and with Him, no one is forgotten. He knows the plight of the lonely and He sees the tears of the mourning, the despairing and the despondent. He sees every thought and our innermost feelings. But He also knows the sins of each one, so often due to our self-will. “For His eyes are on the ways of man, and He sees all his steps” (Job 34:21).

In His love, God wants to draw everyone to Himself and to relieve them of the heavy burden of their sins. There is no deeper personal interest and no greater love. He allowed His own Son to suffer and die for sinners on the cross of Calvary.

Surely this is reason enough to believe His Word and to entrust our lives to Him!

Today’s reading: Genesis 33:1-20 · Psalms 19:8-14

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

Do hope you are learning from our meditations through Psalm 73. It pictures to us the reality of everyday living. I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
