There is a motorcycle meeting on the...

The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone.

But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Revelation 20:10; Matthew 10:28

There is a motorcycle meeting on the highway. There they stand, as though in uniform, in their black, fringed leather jackets and their helmets as shiny as the chrome and paint on their high-horsepower machines.

A glance at their stickers makes one wonder. It’s striking how unconcerned some of them are about hell and the devil! Is it thoughtlessness? Hardly! Maybe they just want to appear cool and declare their fearlessness.

Actually, one should say to them: hell and the devil are not as you imagine them. They are much, much more terrible! How do we know that? There is only one source of information, which lifts the veil on this terrible hereafter a little: the Bible. And the little it says about it is frightening for anyone who hasn’t yet turned to the living God. Jesus Christ refers to hell as “the fire that shall never be quenched” or “everlasting punishment” (Mark 9:43–48; Matthew 25:46).

Let’s not be fooled into thinking the Bible is a story book just because it explicitly insists on the existence of hell and the devil. God’s warnings are as true as His wonderful promises concerning heaven.

God points out the impending danger to us because He wants to save us from it! Whoever accepts the Lord Jesus as substitute from the judgment of God escapes eternal ruin. Christ Himself said,

“He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life”.
John 5:24

Today’s reading: Genesis 36:1-43 · Psalms 22:1-9

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Always Be Humble

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)
A MEMBER of parliament took his little daughter to visit Westminster Abbey. As she stood looking up at its magnificent columns, her father asked, What do you think, sweetheart?' With childlike candour she replied, I was...More

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
