The inscribed stone

Clearly you are an epistle of Christ.
2 Corinthians 3:3

The inscribed stone
At the entrance to a gorge in the region of “Alpes-de-Haute-Provence” there is a rock with a Roman inscription. It is called Pierre Écrit, “the written stone”. The text in beautiful capital letters testifies to the gratitude of the population towards the Roman leader Dardanus, who had all obstacles cleared away in this impassable terrain in order to create a path. Thanks to this inscription, the name of the benefactor has not been lost even to this day.

In today’s verse, the Apostle Paul calls the believers in Corinth an “epistle of Christ”. They had accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. Their lives now showed that they belonged to Him. The Lord Jesus could be recognised in them.

Most people don’t read the Bible. In order for them to learn about Jesus Christ, the behaviour of Christians should be a message that testifies to our Saviour. In this way, our fellow human beings can come to know the Saviour of the world.

Many years ago, a missionary came to a Chinese village and told the people about Jesus Christ. He was told, “This Jesus you speak of lives in our village. Come, we will show him to you.” They led the preacher to an old man who had accepted the gospel in his youth and had lived as a Christian ever since. He was a letter of Christ – known and read by his fellow men.

Today’s reading: Genesis 45:16-28 · Psalms 32:6-11

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
