An ancient epitaph contains the statement...

I know whom I have believed.
2 Timothy 1:12

An ancient epitaph contains the statement in Latin: “I have lived in doubt, I have died in fear, and I do not know where I am going.”

Doubts about the meaning and purpose of life, fear of death, and uncertainty about the afterlife – these are issues faced by many people who do not yet believe in Jesus Christ. Some have given up thinking about these issues, suppressing all questions about the hereafter and living only in the present. Others have recognised the significance of these matters. They feel how important it is to set the course for life after death now, in time. They want to know the truth!

Science cannot tell us anything about the afterlife. And yet, no one who seeks the truth need remain in uncertainty. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He has communicated to us everything we need to know about life, death and the hereafter. But how reliable are the Bible’s accounts of Jesus of Nazareth? Who is Christ really? Can we believe Him, really entrust our lives and our whole future to Him? Before his conversion, the Apostle Paul had persecuted Christians. But then he came to know the Lord Jesus, and with Him the truth. And after that Paul said, “I know whom I have believed”. Check for yourself whether the Bible’s eyewitness accounts of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection are credible. To do so, read and compare the four Gospels. And “observe” Jesus as He encounters people – always asking yourself whether you also can and want to trust Him.

Today’s reading: Genesis 49:19-33 · Psalms 35:19-28

(1 Corinthians 15:29)

Who are "the dead," and who are those "baptized for the dead"? The next verse gives an important hint: "Why do we also endanger ourselves every...More

Going from childhood to adulthood is a transition that requires a lot of wisdom and love. Your teen will feel and behave child-like sometimes, and adult-like other times. Your job is to realize that whatever their status, they will become a man (woman)...More
