For a long time now, not everything...

For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Romans 8:20–21

For a long time now, not everything around us in nature has been as it should be. Due to human civilisation and high population density, many things in the natural world have become unbalanced – hence the great efforts in our days to remedy the situation.

But even without the consequences of civilisation, creation is no longer as it was when it came from God’s hand. What we call the “natural biological balance” is in fact basically a balance of terror. One living being is the enemy of the other and makes sure that the other does not multiply too much. And mankind is likewise limited on account of disease and catastrophe.

But how many believe that this “bondage of ruin” came over creation because the first human couple rebelled against God and fell into sin? At that time, God had “cursed the ground” for man’s sake (Genesis 3:17). The toil and misery in earthly life since then were meant to remind us that our lives are not right with God. But through faith in the Saviour, Jesus Christ, everyone can get right with God and find peace, even to this day.

And even the “hope” and “earnest expectation” of creation for redemption will be fulfilled one day. The sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross has also laid the foundation for “all things” to be reconciled to God in that day (see Colossians 1:20).

Today’s reading: Daniel 6:1-18 · Acts 1:10-14

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
