The admission is paid

What will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Mark 8:37

The admission is paid
“I can’t understand it,” says a woman. “Why should someone who strives to live an honourable life not have a better chance of going to heaven than a criminal?” Does God really make no distinction?

Let’s imagine that a wealthy lady wants to visit an exhibition. The admission costs ten francs. When she opens her elegant bag, she realises that she has left her wallet at home. Next to her is an unkempt man with empty pockets who also wants to visit the exhibition. Who has a better chance of being admitted? Neither of them! No one gets in without a ticket.

The same applies with entry to heaven: an honourable person is no better off than one who has clearly led a bad life. The Bible says, “There is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:22–23).

Now suppose a kind gentleman sees the rich woman and the poor man standing in embarrassment in front of the entrance and pays the admission for both of them. What happens? Both are admitted equally.

So it is with access to heaven. Jesus Christ paid the price for it with His life. Now He offers everyone the opportunity to be saved for eternity through personal faith in Him and His work of redemption.

Today’s reading: Daniel 10:1-14 · Acts 3:19-26

NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

There is a nature that is of the Earth and there is a nature that is of Heaven. Since the fall of man, the earthly nature of man has become corrupted and therefore is greatly under the influence of the kingdom of Satan. Characteristic features of this nature are: wickedness, moral perversion - sodomy and all sorts of...More
