Thankfulness

Be thankful.
Colossians 3:15

Thankfulness
As believers, don’t we have every reason to be thankful? God has blessed us richly in the Lord Jesus. He has given us much more than we would ever have dared to hope for. And yet – don’t we all have to admit that we are often not thankful enough?

Let’s think for a moment about how gratitude affects our lives:

o A grateful Christian is a happy Christian. He lives in the deep awareness that everything he is and has comes from God. Therefore, he accepts everything from the hand of his God.

o A grateful Christian is a praising Christian. He thinks daily of the work of redemption that the Lord Jesus accomplished on the cross. The love of his Saviour moves his heart and leads him to praise and thanksgiving.

o A grateful Christian is a blessing to others. He reminds his fellow Christians of what they possess in the Lord Jesus. This makes them joyful and grateful too. Through his gratitude, he shows his fellow human beings that he possesses something they lack.

o A grateful Christian doesn’t become discouraged in trials. Even on dark days, he knows that the sun shines above the clouds. Although he feels how painfully difficult the trial is, he sees in it the loving hand of his Father. Therefore, in times of need, he doesn’t forget to give thanks.
These few examples show us that it is always worthwhile to be grateful from the heart.

Today’s reading: Job 13:1-28 · Acts 9:17-30

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

Do hope you are learning from our meditations through Psalm 73. It pictures to us the reality of everyday living. I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
