Tychicus

But that you also may know my affairs and how I am doing, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make all things known to you.
Ephesians 6:21

Tychicus
Tychicus was a close associate of the Apostle Paul. He had the special task of delivering the epistles to the Ephesians and the Colossians to these respective assemblies. In doing so, he was also to inform them about the situation of the imprisoned apostle.

In today’s verse, we read something of him that can be true for every believer:

1. Tychicus was a beloved brother in the Lord. This expression concerned his relationships in the family of God.

As the redeemed, we know God as our Father and believers as our brothers and sisters. Because we, like them, possess eternal life, we are inwardly connected to them. Divine love is the bond that holds us together. So that it also shapes our dealings with one another, we are urged, “Let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18).

2. Tychicus was a faithful servant in the Lord. This designation referred to his work in the Lord’s service.

We have all been given a task by the Lord. The words of 1 Corinthians 15:58 apply to us, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” This exhortation spurs us to fulfil our service faithfully, because that’s what matters.

Yes, the Lord will richly reward all faithfulness!

Today’s reading: Isaiah 3:1-15 · Acts 21:15-25

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
