Being accepted

The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
John 6:37

Being accepted
In today’s Bible verse, Jesus Christ makes a promise to all who come to Him and believe in Him with all their heart, “I will by no means cast [you] out.” This means that they will be accepted, welcomed, blessed and comforted.

The prerequisite for enjoying this promise is simple: come to the Lord Jesus, accept Him as Saviour and believe in Him.

However, many struggle with this. They think they can take their salvation into their own hands. They want to do something to be accepted by God. But that’s not how it works. God gave His only begotten Son so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. In other words: whoever does not believe in Him will be lost. Is it that serious? Yes, it is that serious! God says what we have to do –we can’t say what we want to do.

Why does God make salvation so simple, so unconditional? So that even the simplest people have a chance. So that even those who carry around a great burden of guilt don’t have to be lost. Finally, all glory should go to the Saviour: Jesus Christ!

Not to be cast out means receiving a new life and, beyond that, the assurance of a place in heaven. How can anyone carelessly pass by such a precious offer?

Today’s reading: Isaiah 15:1-16:14 · Acts 25:13-27
