In quietness before the Lord

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6–7

In quietness before the Lord
My Saviour, make me still
And humble, meek, and low.
Oh, may Your perfect will
Be mine always to know.
The wishes that arise
Within my heart’s conceit,
I’ll willingly revise
And lay them at Your feet.
What does not match Your thought,
Remove it from my sight.
My ship by You was bought,
Please steer it through the night.
You see what troubles me,
You know just how I feel,
You’ve promised that I’ll be
Supplied with all that’s real.
To You, O God of good,
I stretch my open hands.
You’ll shepherd and You’ll guide
Through all my life’s demands.
Let me live piously,
And always trust in You,
Devoted totally,
Divinely calm and true.
