The noticeboard in the coffee shop always...

Seek the Lord while He may be found.
Isaiah 55:6

The noticeboard in the coffee shop always finds an interested audience: “Looking for a 3-room apartment” – “Looking for a used motorcycle” – “Looking for a baby carriage”.

It’s hard to imagine what things haven’t been searched for here! However, a search for God probably won’t be found on this board. Nevertheless, today’s verse invites us to do just that. Whoever has found the Lord Jesus, and thus God, has life. He who does not have the Son of God does not have life. That is what the Bible tells us (1 John 5:12). And surely we all want to live!

So here, in Jesus Christ, we are offered eternal life: life that reaches beyond death; life that brings fulfilment, now and in the future; life that sustains us even in personal hardship and illness. But we have to want this gift – it doesn’t simply fall into our laps. Moreover, God’s offer is only valid for a limited time. This was also said by the prophet Isaiah, as inspired by God. There will come a time – and it is already very close – when it will no longer be possible to find the Lord and His inexhaustible grace. But for the one who seeks the Lord, His promise is still valid today: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find” (Luke 11:9).

So go to Him in prayer and talk to Him freely. He hears you; God Himself says so. Tell Him directly what your problem is or how unhappy you are. Also have the courage to address what stands between God and you: your personal guilt of various kinds, because we are all guilty of not keeping His commandments. He gladly wants to forgive the sins that cause the guilt, free you from it and give you new life and new hope.

Today’s reading: Isaiah 54:1-17 · Hebrews 13:1-7

OF KEYS AND DOORS

Every apartment or compartment with a lock has its key. It takes a key to open the gate of a house and several keys to enter the house its rooms. If you have fridge, car or wardrobe, you will equally have their keys. From the foregoing therefore, it is apparent that several good things with value have their...More

APPLY THE KEY

Every blessing worth its salt requires a key without which the seeker cannot access it. While some people have never experienced open doors, others once did, but the doors hitherto opened to them have been shut. In
