Looking back and looking forward

The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us.
Psalm 115:12

Looking back and looking forward
The short Bible quotation from Psalm 115 is appropriate at the turn of the year. Looking back on the year that is coming to an end, we say, “The Lord has been mindful of us”! We have experienced joyful and difficult days. There have been ups and downs on our journey through life. But the Lord has never let us down. He has listened to our prayers and answered many a request. Through the Bible, He has strengthened our faith and shown us the way to follow Him.

At the end of the year, we have many reasons to thank the Lord for His goodness and support. He hasn’t forgotten us on any day but has always remembered us with love. For this we want to praise Him from the depths of our hearts.

Looking ahead to the New Year before us, we know that “He will bless us.” As Christians, we don’t have the promise that the Lord will give us wealth or health. But He does have spiritual blessings in store for us in the New Year. He wants our relationship with Him to deepen and for us to get to know Him better, both from the Word of God and in the situations of life. Perhaps it is in 2026 that He will fulfil His promise to come again and rapture us to heaven. Wouldn’t that be the greatest blessing?

The Lord’s promise encourages us to continue to trust in Him and to expect everything from Him. His grace is available to us afresh every day.

Today’s reading: Malachi 3:13-4:6 · Mark 16:12-20

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

Read:
, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
