Grace

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.
Titus 2:11

Grace
Through four questions, let’s reflect on the grace of God as presented in today’s verse:

1. What is grace? It originates from God and is undeserved. No one can earn His grace; no one is entitled to it. When God turns to mankind with kindness, all we can do is say thank you to Him.
2. How does God’s grace manifest itself? It appeared in the person of the Lord Jesus. He became a man, lived on earth, died on the cross, and triumphantly rose again. All of this is encompassed in the grace of God having appeared.
3. What does God’s grace offer? It brings salvation. God doesn’t desire the death of sinners but that they may live. Therefore, He offers eternal salvation through His Son, the Lord Jesus. This salvation includes, among other things, forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God and justification by faith.
4. To whom is God’s grace revealed? It is directed to all men. No one is excluded because the Saviour God wants everyone to be saved. That’s why His offer of grace is open to everyone. However, for a person to possess salvation, they must accept this grace in faith. Anyone who rejects it will bear the eternal consequences of separation from God.

Today’s reading: Exodus 9:1-16 · Luke 3:23-38

What shall the baptized for the dead do if those that are baptized rise not at all? Why also are they baptized for them?
(1 Corinthians 15:29)

Who are "the dead," and who are those "baptized for the dead"? The next verse gives an important hint: "Why do we also endanger ourselves every...More

KEEP YOURSELF HUMBLE

Several years ago, I was on a visit to a parish of our church in Ilesha (a town in southwest Nigeria) on the same day that a Bible Study was to take place. Because I wanted to be blessed, I sat down in the congregation waiting for the Bible study teacher to commence the lesson for the day. However, an overzealous...More
