Shade over the right hand

The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade at your right hand.
Psalm 121:5

Shade over the right hand
The composer of Psalm 121 knew and could say, “My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.” It should always be clear to us as well that we depend on God’s help in our life of faith.

The psalmist goes on to say, “The LORD is your keeper”. Sometimes, we are quite self-confident, thinking we can take care of ourselves. However this attitude is dangerous. It quickly goes wrong when, as believers, we are self-assured and do not let God guard us.

For this reason, the psalmist adds, “The LORD is your shade at your right hand.” For right-handed people, we perform all significant activities with our right hand. We sign important contracts, operate the mouse on the computer, and do our daily work with it. We raise the right hand when making a friendly gesture toward someone. Unfortunately, we also use it to threaten people who, for example, make us angry in traffic.

God is our keeper. He wants to be a shade over all our actions. He wants us to refrain from any activity that does not please Him, for it is to our own harm. If we pay attention to this shade over our right hand, we will be preserved from much wrongdoing in life.

Today’s reading: Exodus 12:29-42 · Luke 5:27-39

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
