We don’t know exactly where the place...

And they brought him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull.
Mark 15:22

We don’t know exactly where the place called Golgotha, also known as Calvary, was. The Bible only tells us that this location was outside Jerusalem but near the city, where many people passed by (John 19:17–20). However, what happened at the place called Golgotha moves our hearts:

o There, people nailed the Son of God to a cross, lifting Him up from the earth. They rejected Him even though He had done them only good and brought them grace. Thus, the wickedness of the human heart reached a sad climax.
o There, Christ endured the shame of crucifixion and the mockery of onlookers, just as He had foretold: “They pierced My hands and My feet; I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me” (Psalm 22:16–17).
o There, the Saviour accomplished the great and wonderful work that forms the foundation of perfect salvation for believers. He fulfilled God’s demands for the just punishment for sins and met the needs of lost mankind for redemption.
o There, the holiness of God was revealed in judgment against sin, and the love of God, giving His own Son unto death for sinners, was fully displayed. Thus God was perfectly glorified in the Lord Jesus, who suffered and died on the cross.

The name “Golgotha” has a special significance for us: It eternally reminds us of the sufferings and death of our Saviour.

Today’s reading: Exodus 14:15-31 · Luke 6:31-38

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
