A Christian had received permission to...

Return to the LORD your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.
Hosea 14:2

A Christian had received permission to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ in a prison hall. As he walked down the aisle toward the platform, he could clearly sense the sceptical attitude of most present. Suddenly, the thought struck him: The introductory words I prepared are entirely unsuitable for this audience!

In a quick prayer, he asked God to show him how he should begin now. As he attempted to climb the few steps to the platform, he stumbled and fell. Laughter filled the hall. The preacher got up, approached the microphone, and said, “My friends, that’s precisely why I’ve come. I want to tell you that a person can fall and rise again!”

This is exactly what God wants to achieve in every person, no matter how great their guilt may be. Therefore, He invites, “Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18).

No one is excluded from this offer. God wants to “help up” everyone, no matter how far they have fallen. He expects us only to openly confess our sins to Him and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour. Then, for us, it holds true:

“The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

Today’s reading: Exodus 19:1-25 · Luke 8:19-25

TRANSFORMED BY THE NEW CREATION

One of the most profound wonders you will find anywhere in the world is the wonder of a transformed life. When a person who was demon-possessed suddenly becomes a vessel unto honour, what wonder can be greater than this? Such a person remains a wonder throughout his or her lifetime. This was the testimony of Mary...More
