For the joy of the Father

And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Matthew 3:17

For the joy of the Father
God found pleasure in the wonderful life of the Lord Jesus on earth. We hear Christ saying, “For I always do those things that please Him” (John 8:29). Who, except Him, who is both God and perfect man in one person, could claim such a thing? Others might say, “I want to do what pleases God.” But only Christ could say, “I always do what pleases the Father.”

Anyone uttering such words must either be the Son of God or a liar. This was clear to the people in Israel. However, most did not want to acknowledge Jesus Christ as a divine person. Therefore, they falsely accused Him of lying and attempted to stone Him. Yet, some accepted Him as the Son of God. In faith, they recognised His divine glory and perfect humanity.

When we follow His footsteps on earth, we see a person who consistently lived for the joy of God. While everyone else sought their own honour, He sought only the honour of His Father. While others followed their own will, He always did the will of His Father. In the 33 years of His life here, He always thought, spoke, and acted according to what pleased God. Therefore, His Father could testify with great joy:

“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Today’s reading: Exodus 26:31-27:8 · Luke 10:30-42

OF KEYS AND DOORS

Every apartment or compartment with a lock has its key. It takes a key to open the gate of a house and several keys to enter the house its rooms. If you have fridge, car or wardrobe, you will equally have their keys. From the foregoing therefore, it is apparent that several good things with value have their...More
