Calling upon God

I will call upon God, and the LORD shall save me.
Psalm 55:16

Calling upon God
Today’s Bible verse applies to all people who have recognised their lost condition before God. They have realised with horror that He has to condemn them because they have not lived as He required. Instead of honouring and obeying Him, they have acted wilfully and committed much evil. Therefore, they understand that they deserve God’s punishment.

This frightening realisation doesn’t have to drive them to despair. They can call upon God and plead for His mercy. Then He shows them the way out: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31). Anyone who believes that the Lord Jesus endured divine punishment on the cross for them will be saved and enter into a joyful relationship with God.

Today’s verse also addresses all believers facing a difficult situation. Perhaps they are professionally challenged, facing a family difficulty that overwhelms them, or dealing with health problems that cause great concern.

In every situation, they can call upon God. He always has an open ear for them and promises His help. While He may not immediately remove every problem, He stands by His own and keeps them firm in faith. That is salvation!

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” (Psalms 50:15)

Today’s reading: Exodus 31:1-11 · Luke 13:1-9

TRANSFORMED BY THE NEW CREATION

One of the most profound wonders you will find anywhere in the world is the wonder of a transformed life. When a person who was demon-possessed suddenly becomes a vessel unto honour, what wonder can be greater than this? Such a person remains a wonder throughout his or her lifetime. This was the testimony of Mary...More
