Pleasing God

Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who delights greatly in His commandments.
Psalm 112:1

Pleasing God
Do you want to be a happy Christian? Then take today’s Bible verse as the guiding principle of your life.

Fearing the Lord does not mean that you have to be afraid of God. Through faith in the Lord Jesus, you are His beloved child! However, that doesn’t exclude having the utmost respect for Him. True fear of God is a respectful attitude towards God, with whom you have a happy relationship. It motivates you to lead a life that honours God.

With this desire in your heart, you rejoice in His instructions given to you in the Bible. You are gladly willing to obey Him and follow His commandments. In doing so, you can daily avail yourself of His grace, helping you to wholeheartedly fulfil God’s will. If at times you fail to live as God desires, you can confess your wrongdoing to Him. He forgives you and encourages you to follow His Word anew.

Jesus has provided the perfect example of God-fearing and obedient conduct. When He lived on earth, He sought to please God in everything He did. He always sought God’s honour, and in every situation He did His will. In doing so, He experienced a deep joy in His heart, a joy that God grants to everyone who honours and obeys Him.

“Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in

His ways.” (Psalm 128:1).

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 18:1-23 · Luke 23:39-46
