Three Ms

Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
John 11:32

Three Ms
In times of sickness, mourning and testing, the three Ms in John 11 are a great help to us. They give our faith in God new courage. The Son of God presents them to us Himself, in the way He encountered the tested family in Bethany.

When the Lord Jesus heard about the severe illness of His friend Lazarus, He stayed two more days where He was. In this, we see that the Lord always waits for God’s moment. Only God knows the right time for help. He never acts too early or too late.

Meanwhile, Lazarus had died. When Jesus stood at his grave, He shed tears and showed His perfect love for this family. Seeing how sad they were, He sighed deeply in His spirit and thereby showed the movement of His heart. This is His divine compassion, which we can always count on. From heaven, He shares in our difficult situation and has compassion on us. No one can console like Him!

Then came the wonderful moment when the deceased was raised. The Son of God called with divine might, “Lazarus, come forth!” His power will be displayed in the same way when He returns to take all believers to Himself. His powerful voice will resurrect all believers in Him who have already died and take them with us to heaven. What a prospect!

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 19:1-15 · Luke 23:47-56

What shall the baptized for the dead do if those that are baptized rise not at all? Why also are they baptized for them?
(1 Corinthians 15:29)

Who are "the dead," and who are those "baptized for the dead"? The next verse gives an important hint: "Why do we also endanger ourselves every...More
