To be merry without end

And they began to be merry.
Luke 15:24

To be merry without end
The story of the younger son thankfully does not end with him being destitute after a life of extravagance. In his need, he remembered his good home which he had so stubbornly left. He decided to return to his father, confessing his sins. So he set out and went to his father.

The father saw him from afar, ran to meet him, and embraced him. The son had not expected such a reception. Immediately, he made a confession: “Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.”

This path is open to all of us. When we turn from our sinful life to God and confess our sins to Him, we are welcomed with open arms because Christ suffered and died for us on the cross.

The father gave his returned son the best robe, a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. Then he declared, “Let us eat and be merry”. How he rejoiced over his son’s repentance! Now they began to celebrate together.

When we turn to God and believe in the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, we are richly endowed. But the most beautiful thing is the joy of close and happy fellowship with God, who has become our Father. This happiness begins on Earth and continues eternally in Heaven.

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 23:16-40 · Romans 1:8-17

Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
