God instructed Abram to lift up his eyes and...

Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are – northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.
Genesis 13:14–15

God instructed Abram to lift up his eyes and behold the land that He would give him. He was to look in all four directions from his elevated position to gain an overview of the beautiful land of Canaan.

Then God gave Abram another directive: “Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width.” He was to explore Canaan, discovering and admiring its attractive landscape in detail.

What was literal for Abram is spiritually applicable to us as Christians. God has richly blessed us in the Lord Jesus, as Ephesians 1:3 explains: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

We can contemplate this spiritual wealth either in its extent or in its details. Take our salvation, for example:

We reflect on it based on the Bible, recognising its foundation and scope: the Lord Jesus died for us on the cross so that we are redeemed for time and eternity.
We can be occupied with individual aspects of our salvation: we have the forgiveness of sins, we are reconciled to God, we are freed from the power of Satan, we possess eternal life, and so on.
Both perspectives bring happiness and gratitude to us.

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 32:1-25 · Romans 6:1-11

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
