During His imprisonment and trial, the Lord Jesus was...

Thus I am like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth is no response.
Psalm 38:14

During His imprisonment and trial, the Lord Jesus was faced with outrageous accusations. What His enemies brought against Him wasn’t true at all. He could have refuted any accusation with a few words. Yet He remained silent instead of defending Himself.

To the great amazement of Pilate, the defendant remained silent, even though the Roman governor had asked Him to respond. Similarly, He didn’t protest when people mistreated Him. He silently endured their malice.

Usually, a person vehemently defends himself when falsely accused and treated unfairly. He will become extremely anxious when facing death and will be terribly tormented. Yet the Lord Jesus was like a silent lamb led to slaughter. He was silent like a sheep that willingly undergoes the process of shearing (Isaiah 53:7).

Why could the Lord remain calm in the face of such dreadful injustice? Because He submitted to the will of His Father and surrendered to His God, who judges righteously (1 Peter 2:23). Through His silence, He bore eloquent testimony to His humility and submission.

We can rightly say: Never has a man remained silent like this man! The glory of His silence fills our hearts and mouths with admiration.

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 35:12-19 · Romans 7:14-25

FALSE PROPHETS AND THEIR PROPHECIES-FOOLISH PROPHETS

The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying: Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say unto them that prophesy out of their own heart, Hear ye the word of Jehovah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow after their own spirit, and have seen nothing!...More

EVERYONE NEEDS A MIRACLE

Some years ago, I was invited to be the guest speaker at a garden party in an exclusive, highbrow residential area. Because I arrived at the venue quite early, I was made to sit for a while in the house of my host. The house was an exquisite parade of wealth and splendour. I had never seen such brazen display of...More

FOR CHRIST'S SAKE DON'T!

A negative change is generally abhorred by men. Everyone craves progress. We always desire to keep ascending the ladder of success. No one wants to make a u-turn in the journey of greatness. The greatest journey whose end has the greatest significance is the journey to Heaven. This journey is only made in Jesus...More
