The fear of death runs deep in the hearts...

Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me, and horror has overwhelmed me.
Psalm 55:5

The fear of death runs deep in the hearts of many people. Even believers can be overcome by it. Although it is often suppressed, it remains a reality. Fortunately, there is hope for the “afterlife”.

This prospect is offered to us by the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He said, “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” (Revelation 1:18). When He died on the cross and rose to life on the third day, He defeated death.

He desires to share this victory with all who turn to Him and believe in Him. He took death as the consequence of sin upon Himself for them. Thus He paid the full price for their redemption.

Through personal faith in Christ, who suffered for our sins before God, we escape judgment. We receive eternal life and thus a sure hope beyond death.

When we die, we have the assurance that we will go to paradise with Christ. At His coming at the rapture, He will resurrect believers who have already died and transform living believers to take them all to Himself in heaven.

When this glorious hope fills our hearts, death loses its terror for us. Although it remains a dark gate, it leads to heavenly glory.

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 40:13-41:10 · Romans 9:30-33

Two discouraged disciples were reasoning among themselves...

Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? And having begun from Moses and from all the prophets, He interpreted them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

SPIRITUAL WARFARE I

When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More
