Not yet read?

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11

Not yet read?
A radio and television presenter admitted to sleeping little and instead spending a lot of time reading. “I read at least two books a day,” he said. In his private library of 3,000 books, arranged by author, there is plenty of reading material: novels, philosophy, theatre ... “Could it be that you haven’t read a particular classic yet?” he was asked. “Yes, the Bible,” he admitted frankly. This book of books had so far escaped his insatiable reading appetite.

Why do we read? To enrich our minds? To escape everyday life or to distract ourselves? Whether we are zealous readers or not, there is one book that is truly worth reading: the Bible. Its text is alive, for it is the Word of God, which has the power to connect us with God and to change us from the inside out. It acquaints us with God and shows us that God is love and light. It is like a seed that sprouts in the heart of the recipient: “Having been born again ... through the word of God which lives and abides forever” (1 Peter 1:23).

Believing what the Bible tells us means believing God. Its aim is to impart to us divine life. It is much more than a distraction; it helps us discover true happiness in life. Unlike anything humans can write, “the words of the LORD are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times” (cf. Psalm 12:6; 19:7–11).

There is nothing superfluous in the Bible. It acquaints us with the truth about ourselves and about God.

“Your word is truth.” (John 17:17)

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 44:1-10 · Romans 11:11-21

(2 Peter 3:18)

God in His grace has centered every blessing for us in Christ. Without Christ, we have nothing, nothing but our sins; with Christ we have all things, and therefore want nothing in addition to Christ. As...More

NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

There is a nature that is of the Earth and there is a nature that is of Heaven. Since the fall of man, the earthly nature of man has become corrupted and therefore is greatly under the influence of the kingdom of Satan. Characteristic features of this nature are: wickedness, moral perversion - sodomy and all sorts of...More
