You have answered Me

Deliver Me from the sword, My precious life from the power of the dog. Save Me from the lion’s mouth and from the horns of the wild oxen! You have answered Me.
Psalm 22:20–21

You have answered Me
In Psalm 22, we read what the Lord Jesus thought and felt on the cross. He hung there because people rejected Him and wanted to get rid of Him. But He also hung on the cross to fulfil the work of redemption. How He suffered there! In His distress, He called out to His God for help:

“Deliver Me from the sword.” At the cross, when it became pitch dark at noon, God’s sword struck the Lord Jesus because He was burdened with our sins. God punished Him for our guilt. Then the Saviour cried out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?”
“Save Me from the lion’s mouth ...” At the cross, the devil confronted the Son of God. He mobilised everything against Him to destroy Him. But we know that Christ achieved the greatest victory over Satan right there. He gave His life “that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil” (Hebrews 2:14).
“… and from the horns of the wild oxen.” How cruelly the people treated the Lord Jesus when they crucified Him! They tortured Him physically and showered Him with biting mockery. He felt like one who was taken by a wild ox’s horns.
“You have answered Me.” God heard the suffering Christ. On the third day after His death, He raised Him from the dead and then gave Him the honoured place at His right hand 40 days later.

Today’s reading: Leviticus 5:14-19 · Psalms 51:12-19

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
