Goodbye

You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3

Goodbye
A Christian reports: “I was in the hospital for several days for an examination. A movable wall separated my bed from the bed of a young boy who was terminally ill. The doctor had discontinued treatment and was only giving him strong pain medication. One morning, I overheard him on the phone saying, ‘I want to go home. It’s not getting any better. I want to die at home.’

These words shook me deeply. The boy was going to die, and he knew it. Was he ready to meet God? I prayed to the Lord Jesus, asking Him to give me the right words that would touch his heart. Then I sat by his bed and told him about Jesus, how He died on the cross, and how through personal faith in Him we receive eternal life. I quoted the words of the Son of God that have led many to salvation: ‘For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life’ (John 3:16).

The boy looked at me and smiled, saying, ‘You know, I also believe in the Lord Jesus. He is my Saviour.’ The next morning, he was taken home to die. When I said ‘Goodbye’, he pointed to the sky and replied, ‘Yes, goodbye. We will see each other again up there in heaven!’”

“And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”

(1 Thessalonians 4:17)

Today’s reading: Leviticus 11:1-28 · Psalms 56:8-13

DIVINE CHAMPION 2

Yesterday we discovered that our Lord Jesus Christ is the number one champion and that He makes His people champions. We also saw that a divine champion is a person raised up and supported by God.

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More
