Peace – My peace

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 14:27

Peace – My peace
Many people desire emotional stability. They try to positively change their thinking, feeling and experience through meditation exercises. But this is dangerous because it opens them up to unhealthy influences. Instead of the hoped-for peace, inner restlessness intensifies. Fears increase.

When the Lord Jesus Christ lived on earth, He freed numerous people from demon possession. Yet His greatest victory was won in His death on the cross: “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil” (Hebrews 2:14). To all who now seek refuge in the Lord Jesus, He gives a twofold gift:

“Peace I leave with you.” Because the Saviour sacrificed Himself for us on the cross, God can forgive us of our life’s guilt upon sincere confession. As justified ones, we have peace with God.
“My peace I give to you.” The journey of faith leads through highs and lows. In every situation, the Lord wants to give us His peace. It is the peace that filled His own heart throughout His life of extreme trial and pressure on earth.
Isn’t this offer much better than the supposed peace that the godless world wants to sell you at the cost of your soul?

Today’s reading: Leviticus 22:1-33 · Psalms 68:20-27

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
