When we read the Bible, we find...

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
1 Corinthians 2:12

When we read the Bible, we find in many places that God likes to give generously. The greatest thing He has given us is His beloved Son. Paul calls this gift unspeakable or indescribable (2 Corinthians 9:15). But even in our everyday life of faith, God is a giving God. When we don’t know what to do in a situation, we can ask Him for wisdom, and He will give it to us generously (James 1:5). Of the things we need daily for our physical lives, God gives us everything richly to enjoy (1 Timothy 6:17). Most of us have more than enough to eat.

In today’s verse, the Apostle Paul speaks of other gifts that God has given us. The Holy Spirit, who dwells in us, reveals them to us. These are gifts that God specifically gives to His people during this time of grace.

o He has made us His children and accepted us as His sons (1 John 3:1).
o We are heirs of God and will one day reign as co-heirs with the Lord Jesus over heaven and earth (Romans 8:17).
o We have free access to our God and Father in heaven at all times (Ephesians 2:18).
o We have become partakers of the divine nature and possess eternal life (2 Peter 1:4).
o We belong to the church of God and are members of the body of Christ (Ephesians 5:30).
o We can already rejoice in this wonderful blessing every day.

Today’s reading: Judges 16:13-22 · Psalms 73:9-17

THE SACRIFICES IN THE BOOK OF NUMBERS (8)

GOD HAS A SUBSTITUTE

One thing we need to learn in today's reading is that God always has a substitute. If God says He wants you, rejoice! However, be careful, because even as He is choosing you, He has already prepared a substitute.
