The finger of God!
That’s what the Egyptian magicians said to Pharaoh when God sent a plague of locusts to persuade the mighty ruler to release the people of Israel from slavery.

God is so powerful that He only needs to move His finger to intervene in world events. With His finger, He also wants to demonstrate something, to draw attention to it. Do we understand His signals in our lives? Do you currently have a need, a problem that burdens you? Then remember that God is powerful to come to your aid; creation is the work of His fingers (Psalm 8:3)!

In everything we experience, we also should ask ourselves what God wants to tell us. He knows us inside and out. Sometimes He intends to shake us up, warn us or correct us. Then He sometimes sends us clear signals: an illness, an accident or a mishap. But in all this, He always has loving intentions towards us and wants to draw us closer to Himself.

God speaks to people through plagues, wars, disasters and misfortunes. Quickly, the question arises: Where is God? Why does He allow this? And in doing so, one overlooks entirely that it is the finger of God – God is patient and doesn’t want anyone to perish (see 2 Peter 3:9).

Back to the beginning: How did the king of Egypt react? “But Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, just as the LORD had said” (verse 19). How sad! God had to strike the land of Egypt with further plagues until Pharaoh finally let the people go. And in the end, he perished in the Red Sea.

Therefore, let us pay attention to the finger of God!
