Creator and Redeemer
A boy spent hours crafting his own miniature sailboat. When he finished, he took it to the open water for a test run. Suddenly, a strong wind carried the small ship away. He quickly ran along the shore, but he couldn’t retrieve it.

Several weeks later, to his surprise, the boy saw his handcrafted sailboat for sale in a second-hand shop. He entered the store and explained to the seller, “This boat belongs to me. I made it myself and recently lost it on the lake. Now, I want it back.”

However the seller replied, “We acquired this sailboat and are now offering it for sale. If you want it, you have to pay the price we are asking for it.”

So, the boy ran home, emptied his piggy bank, and bought back his own boat. At home, he declared, “I made the sailboat and I bought it. Now it belongs to me twice.”

This is an illustration of what the Son of God has done for believers. As the Creator, He made us. Yet, we sinned against Him and became lost. Therefore, the Son of God became man and gave His life for us on the cross as our Saviour. His blood was shed in order to redeem us. Through faith in Him we have been saved. Now we belong to Him in a twofold way: we are His creatures and His redeemed people.
