Today’s verse describes a positive spiritual development that God wants to bring about in us.

We know from the Bible and from our experiences with God that He is kind. In Psalm 103:11, we read, “For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him.” And in Psalm 107:1, it says, “Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”

The deep awareness of God’s goodness produces in us a firm trust in Him. We believe that He will not abandon us and will carry us through all our difficulties. Even if we do not yet see how things will turn out, we trust in the help of our God. We are convinced that He makes no mistakes and intends only good for us.

Confidence in God in everyday life brings forth in our hearts great joy over His salvation. Although we don’t know when and how the problems will be resolved, we are not crushed by the situation. Instead, we rejoice in the Lord, who will never put our faith to shame.

The joy in God and in His future salvation prompts us to sing songs of praise. We praise our God, who has given us true joy in our hearts and will reward our trust in Him in His time. We praise Him for all His blessings that He has shown us and will continue to bestow upon us.
