Tiger beetles are fast insects. They reach a running speed of 2.5 metres per second. But during their hunt for prey, these beetles frequently come to a sudden stop.

Scientists have found that when the beetles move too fast, their eyes do not gather enough light energy to form a clear image of their target. Then they can no longer perceive their prey. That’s why they take a break to see clearly again and continue purposefully.

Do we always have our life’s goal clearly in mind? Or are we moving so fast, so occupied by work, family or hobbies, that we no longer clearly recognise the goal? Then we need to stand still and ask ourselves: Are we on the right path to the right goal?

The ultimate goal of our path of life lies beyond death for all of us: either in the glory of heaven or in the darkness of God’s absence. The decision of where we will be in the afterlife is made here on earth. Let’s take a “pit stop”! Let’s ask ourselves today: Are we really on the way to God and to His glory?

Only through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ do we come to God. He Himself said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
