Priceless

Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Mark 8:37

Priceless
There are always people who believe that you can buy anything with money. But sooner or later, they have to realise that they are mistaken. The truly valuable things in life cannot be bought with money.

You can spend a lot on health to maintain it or restore it. However, there are limits where the most expensive therapy no longer helps, and the best doctor just shrugs.

Most people don’t like to be alone. They seek a happy life together with others. Pleasure and entertainment can be obtained for a fee, but true friendship and true love cannot be bought or forced.

Even the forgiveness of sins cannot be purchased with money. Perhaps it’s possible to silence accomplices with a certain amount. But the guilt remains. It is only cleared when we honestly confess our sins to God and to others that we have wronged.

The price of eternal life is too high to be paid for with gold or silver. The Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, had to die on the cross so that everyone who believes in Him could receive eternal life. Now it is up to us to accept this gift in faith and thankfulness.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8–9).

Today’s reading: 1 Chronicles 29:1-9 · 1 Timothy 4:7-16
